The missing marker wasn’t apparent in the Pages document - it only showed up after exporting to Word! And no matter what I tried, I could not get rid of that screwy marker. I have followed all the instructions in this and several other topics.

I’ve tried everything I can think of - exporting to PDF (which can’t track changes) or RTF (which strips the endnote markers).
